EDI in every way

As a freight forwarder, you need all the shipment data in the transport management system (TMS) to be as accurate as possible for your transport service. That requires the kind of connection that the EIKONA Data Integration module provides: FTP, classic interfaces, APIs (application programming interfaces) or event sourcing platforms. The integration solution always handles electronic data interchange (EDI) over your preferred connection. Data is transferred directly between the production environments and your operational software.

Translator for data

It all starts once the implementation is done. During the transfer, the software also checks whether the incoming data format – EDIFACT, Fortras, VDI, XML, etc. – is compatible with your systems. If not, it is immediately translated to meet your requirements. And if you need information from multiple files for the next process step, the module will integrate it in the process. That way, you have the knowledge right at your fingertips without having to deal with the data flow.

All the data in logistics processes has a value. You can increase this value dramatically by using this data in a single format and sharing with partners along the supply chain in a standardised way. Because data can only drive seamless process automation it is comprehensible for every system (such as ERP or TMS).

Single view of the truth

Depending on the business requirements, data may not be adequately translated from one format to another. Plus, the contents of different files may have to be merged into a new or different data type as they move from the purchase order to the delivery note, for example. Our module helps with the data integration.

Security always comes first when we transport data. We use only encrypted data transfer formats such as SFTP, FTPS, OFTP2, AS2 or HTTPS. And we convert the data sets in a secure, high-availability environment: Our data centre is certified to DIN ISO 9001 and DIN ISO 27001.

How does data conversion work?

What is the point of all this again? As a logistics service provider and freight forwarder, you make it easier to communicate with your customers across company boundaries. Each supply chain player has the data their IT production system needs in exactly the format they use. The module uses conversion to transfer data records from one format to another.

This is done by comparing the data. Take the place of delivery and date. One system may present this data in two fields, while another uses only one field. Our module aligns, merges and maps out the data. If data fields contain the same information in different notations, data conversion will extract this data. The tool performs analyses, separates content from a longer content string and places it in a different context.

Benefit from real-time processing. Take, for example, the supply chain for your automotive or e-commerce customers. All the processes are fine-tuned for precise planning of logistics processes. Including high-precision scheduling. Your customers have developed their own file formats for all the processes along the production chain.

There is no need for your employees to memorise them. If you transport loads for the automotive industry, you will know what the OFTP 2 transport protocol means. By contrast, e-commerce shippers use the As2 standard for their orders. You see: to participate, your data will have to be converted. Our module does it for you.
